PEABODY - Mrs. Eleanor G. Becker 91 of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Boxford, beloved wife of the late Karl V. Becker, died peacefully June 20th, 2013 at her residence.

Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late C. Emil and Bessie B. (Cates) Carlson, she was raised and educated in Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School. Mrs. Becker continued her education graduating from Simmons College for Women in Boston.

She started her career teaching Home Economics to adults and later as a substitute elementary school teacher. She then spent the last 22 years of her career as a third grade teacher at the Proctor School in Topsfield. She always strove to teach her kids in the most memorable ways. One such annual project was to "raise" Monarch butterflies in the classroom from egg, to caterpillar, to chrysalis to butterfly! This and many other interesting teaching projects left memorable impressions on her students.

Her favorite activities included a lively game of cribbage, enjoying the many dif- ferent varieties of birds that visited her feeders and was an avid reader that was seldom seen without a book in her hands. Eleanor was a long time res- ident of the Town of Boxford, involved in many town activities. She moved to Brooksby Village in 2003.

Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Richard C. Becker of Ipswich, Robert K. Becker and his wife Marisa of Danvers and her grandchildren, Elizabeth Makoul and her husband Pierre and John Becker and his wife Sue Fan.
