August 28, 1934 – January 7, 2025
PEABODY – Elizabeth L. (Ahern) Hubka, 90 of Peabody, formerly of Hampstead, New Hampshire and beloved wife of the late Lawrence "Larry" Hubka, passed away on January 7th, 2025 at Brooksby Village surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Lynn, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Thomas and Phyllis (Therrien) Ahern and was a graduate from St. Mary's High School. Elizabeth continued her education at Emmanuel College where she received her bachelor's degree in history and attended the University of Vermont.
While attending college, Elizabeth joined the convent of the Sisters of Notre Dame. Elizabeth devoted 25 years of her early life to her religious order, where she was an educator for elementary school students. She was dedicated to the education of her students and found great solace in preparing her young students for their bright futures. Following years of devotion, Elizabeth decided to leave the convent and began her career as an administrative assistant at Raytheon for over 10 years. This new professional path had guided her into the arms of her loving husband Larry.
Known to be quiet and reserved, Elizabeth expressed her creativity through interior decorating. She had an impeccable sense of style and enjoyed decorating her living spaces, along with her sister's, in her own unique way. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Elizabeth is survived her sister, Mary Ann Stevens of Danvers and brother, Thomas Ahern, Esq. of Waltham, her nieces and nephews, Mark Stevens and his wife, Kathleen of Hampstead, NH, Garth Stevens of Ogunquit, ME, Michael Stevens and his wife, Nancy of Louisville, KY, Caitlin Ahern and her husband, Tom Dolan of Belmont and Greg Ahern of Evergreen CO.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Elizabeth's funeral Mass which will be held St. Richard's Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers on Friday, January 17th at 10 AM. Please meet directly at church. A visitation will be held at St. Richard's Church from 9 to 9:45 AM prior to Mass.
