IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth
Leopoldo
April 24, 1975 – June 9, 2025
SALEM – Ms. Elizabeth Leopoldo, 50, of Salem—lovingly known as Lilly, Liz, and Betty—passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Salem Hospital.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Elizabeth was the daughter of Olga (Michel) Castillo and the late Charlie Leopoldo. She was raised and educated in both Passaic, NJ, and Salem, MA. But while she made Massachusetts her home, you could take the girl out of New Jersey—you just couldn't take New Jersey out of the girl.
Elizabeth's care for others shone brightly through her work as a licensed practical nurse in pediatrics and at nursing homes, as well as in her event planning business. She offered not only compassionate care to her patients but also unwavering support to her coworkers—as a mentor, confidant, friend, and the ultimate party planner.
She was vivacious, generous, and full of life. Elizabeth loved to travel, dance, laugh, and celebrate life's moments. Yet, she always put others first. As a single mother, Jayme was the center of her world. She also lovingly cared for her mother Olga during each stage of Alzheimer's, offering strength and tenderness in equal measure.
Elizabeth was a fiercely protective big sister to her brothers, a doting aunt to her nephews, a true sister to her sister-in-law, and the friend everyone knew they could count on. She would want to be remembered for her smile, her laughter, her joyful spirit, and her deep care for others.
Above all, Elizabeth would want each of us to carry forward her legacy—to live with compassion, notice those around us, and give generously in ways that challenge and inspire us to redefine what it means to truly live.
In addition to her loving mother Olga, of Salem; Lilly is survived by her son, Jayme Leopoldo of Salem; her brother, Carlos Leopoldo and his wife, Robin of Swampscott; her brother, Anthony Castillo; her 2 nephews, Caleb and Noah Leopoldo of Swampscott and many other loving extended family members and close friends.
