PEABODY - Mrs. Epifania Santiago Vargas, 80, of Peabody, died peacefully, March 27, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Moca, Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late Pedro and Ana (Vargas) Santiago. She was raised and educated in Moca, D.R. and immigrated to the United States on February 15th, 1981, settling in Brooklyn, New York. A year later she moved to the city of Peabody and would make it her forever home. She raised her family in Peabody and loved the city and its residents. A hard working and loyal woman, Epifania was a talented seamstress. She worked making Totes at Shetland Park for many years. She then moved to working as a Bridal Seamstress at a Bridal Shop on main Street in Peabody for many years. She handmade dresses for her daughter's wedding and exquisitely created all of the bridesmaid's dresses for her family. She tailored and adorned many wedding dresses for brides all over the North Shore. She returned to school and earned her Certified Nursing Assistant License and began a career in the health care field. She was associated with the Pilgrim Rehabilitation in Peabody, the Rainbow Nursing Home in Peabody and the Abbott Nursing Home in Lynn. She was a dedicated and hard-working woman, often working double shifts, all for the betterment of her daughters and family. She worked hard to provide a better life for her family and they will always be grateful for her loving care and concern. Epifania believed in hard work, family and faith in God. She created a loving and close-knit family centered around the church and each other. Through good times and bad family was always the most important and always there to celebrate the good times and support each other in the hard times. She was a true matriarch of a loving family. Her siblings, nieces and nephews had a special place in her heart and world, along with all of her children and grandchildren. They and their love are her everlasting hallmark. Epifania is survived by her daughters, Clara Holguin of Lawrence, Esperanza Santiago of Lawrence and Florangel Reynoso of Lynn, her grandchildren, Kaprisky Castillo, Zashary Santiago, Ashley Riggs, Chayenne Espinal, Nolis Espinal Jr., Zshamal Holguin, Jazzul Holguin, Zurich de Leon, Jaden Reynoso and Milena Gonzalez, her great grandchildren, Paris Vega, London Castillo, Milan Castillo, Zaeya Holguin, Zander Holguin and Bella Reynoso, her siblings, Candida S, Santiago de Reyes, Maria Venecia Liver, Ana Lorenza Santiago, Miguel Santiago Vargas and Jose M. Santiago Vargas and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Antonio Santiago Vargas and Francisco A. Santiago Vargas.
ARRANGEMENTS: The Santiago Vargas family will be holding a Catholic Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life to which all will be invited, at a date and time to be announced. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem. Burial was held in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
