IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ernest C.
Maione
June 3, 1942 – March 2, 2024
SALEM - Mr. Ernest C. Maione, 81, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly in the early evening hours on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at home.
Born in NYC, he was the son of the late Carmine and Angela (Mupo) Maione.
Mr. Maione had been employed as a third shift supervisor for the former West Lynn Creamery for over 30 years until the time of his retirement. While he excelled at his career and moved up through the ranks known by some of his coworkers as "The Wiz", his real passion was his family.
A kid from NYC grew up, joined the Airforce, landed in Massachusetts, and met the love of his life. He met his wife Diane, on a steamy Sunday afternoon in August of 1962. From their very first date on Revere Beach, they fell in love instantly spending almost every night together under the stars until the early morning hours. On May 4th, 1963 Ernie married his best friend and sweetheart knowing their love would last a lifetime. Happily married for 59 years they created a beautiful life and family together. As a father he was hardworking, steadfast, loving, direct, passionate, protective, prideful, wise and a tornado of energy that would leave you breathless at times. It might not have always been an easy journey and he made it his own, right to the very end, "he did it his way", like a boss. He dedicated his life to his family and friends, making sure in his way they knew they were loved and supported.
He enjoyed taking annual summer family trips to Lake George, New York and North Conway, New Hampshire making lifelong memories. He loved horses, spending days with his buddies chatting at the racetrack. Saratoga Springs was a favorite trip for him to take. He also loved to play darts, chess, bowl, and head to the YMCA for a daily steam. Ernie will live forever in the hearts of his family and friends and will be deeply missed. He is his family's greatest gift. May his soul fly free, breathe easy, find peace, joy, and endless love as he gains his wings and is reunited with the love of his life. Together again, forever.
Ernest is survived by his daughter, Angela Maione of Swampscott. He also leaves behind several cousins.
