PEABODY – Ms. Estela Batista of Peabody formerly of Salem, died peacefully, January 23rd, 2026 at the home of her daughter.
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of the late Rafael Aguasanta Ungira and Alicia Batista. She was raised and educated in Santo Domingo, DR and immigrated to the United States in 1970. First settling in New York but in 1971, she and her family moved to the North Shore making Salem and Peabody their forever home.
Ms. Batista had been employed for many years with G.T.E Sylvania as an assembler until the time of her retirement.
A well-known member of the community, Estela was well loved by all. She was very active in her religion and especially active at the Church of God – Antioquia in Peabody. She led a healing prayer group for many years and would often be asked to pray over the sick people in the community. A healing prayer ministry, which she always delivered with love. She was also known for helping others immigrate to the United States and the North Shore. She would lend a hand with their paper work and help navigate all of the rules and regulations for them. She changed peoples lives for the better, directly from her heart. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and was always happiest in the company of family. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.
Estela is survived by her daughters, Mercedes Algarin and Milagros Beato, her son, David Garcia, her 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, her siblings, Belkis, Wilton, Christian, Ramon, Marilyn, Lola and Gertrudis and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was the mother of the late Luis Garcia, grandmother of the late Manassas Beato and sister of the late Olga Batista.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours to be held at O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Square, (at Salem Common) SALEM, Thursday, February 5th from 6 to 8 P.M. PEABODY - La Sra. Estella Batista, de Peabody, anteriormente residente de Salem, falleció pacíficamente el 23 de enero de 2026 en la casa de su hija.
Nacida en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, era hija de los difuntos Rafael Aguasanta Ungira y Alicia Batista. Se crió y se educó en Santo Domingo y emigró a los Estados Unidos en 1970. Inicialmente se estableció en Nueva York, pero en 1971, ella y su familia se mudaron a la costa norte de Massachusetts, donde Salem y Peabody se convirtieron en su hogar definitivo.
La Sra. Batista trabajó durante muchos años en G.T.E. Sylvania como ensambladora hasta su jubilación.
Estela, una persona muy conocida en la comunidad, era muy querida por todos. Era muy activa en su fe y especialmente en la Iglesia de Dios – Antioquia en Peabody. Dirigió un grupo de oración para la sanación durante muchos años y a menudo le pedían que orara por los enfermos de la comunidad. Un ministerio de oración sanadora que siempre desempeñó con amor. También era conocida por ayudar a otras personas a inmigrar a los Estados Unidos y a la zona de North Shore. Les ayudaba con el papeleo y les guiaba a través de las normas y regulaciones. Cambió la vida de muchas personas para mejor, con la bondad que emanaba de su corazón. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba tejiendo a crochet y siempre era más feliz en compañía de su familia. Será recordada con cariño y se la echará mucho de menos.
A Estela le sobreviven sus hijas, Mercedes Algarin y Milagros Beato, su hijo, David Garcia, sus 11 nietos y 23 bisnietos, sus hermanos, Belkis, Wilton, Christian, Ramon, Marilyn, Lola y Gertrudis, y muchos sobrinos y demás familiares. Fue madre del difunto Luis Garcia, abuela del difunto Manassas Beato y hermana de la difunta Olga Batista.
DISPOSICIONES: Familiares y amigos están invitados a las horas de velatorio que se celebrarán en O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Square (esquina con Salem Common), SALEM, el jueves 5 de febrero de 6:00 - 8:00 p. m. El sepelio tendrá lugar en el cementerio Cedar Grove, Grove St., Peabody, el viernes 6 de febrero a las 12:00 del mediodía.
