MIDDLETON – Frances Lorraine (Capes) Messina, 84, of Middleton, formerly of Revere, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026 in North Andover surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Arlington, Frances was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian (Andrews) Capes. She was raised and educated in Revere, and attended Revere High School.

After high school, Frances began her working life as a telephone operator with Bell Atlantic in Boston. Even as a teenager, she showed her caring nature, volunteering as a candy striper. Over the years, she built a varied and hardworking career, working as a CNA, a waitress, and as a bookkeeper, real estate broker, and managed her own daycare center.

Above all, Frances was a devoted and hardworking mother of three. She poured her energy into raising her children and later delighted in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with them. She loved to read and sew, and was known for her quick wit — always ready with a joke and a good laugh.

In addition to her parents, Frances is predeceased by her sister, Lillian Parker, and her brother Raymond Capes.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Michele Braccia and her husband Christopher of Middleton, Barbara Reppucci and her late husband Michael of Derry, NH, her son, Anthony Messina and his wife Maria of Boxford, her sisters, Ann Bruno, Mary Wallask, and Trish Gallagher, her grandchildren, Desirae Gallagher, Paul Messina, Jason Braccia, and Isabella Braccia, her great-grandchildren, Gianna Messina and Nico Messina, and many nieces and nephews.
