DANVERS - Mr. Francis Peter Della Monica, 82 of Danvers, beloved husband of the late Julie (Gosselin) Della Monica, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Salem he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Femino) Della Monica. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. Peter continued his education at Springfield College where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree and ultimately received his master's degree in physical education and continued to work towards his doctorate degree.
A lifelong advocate for education and physical fitness, Peter devoted his career to inspiring young minds as a gym teacher and gymnastics coach, he later accepted the position of Assistant Athletic Director at Salem State University and ultimately retiring as Athletic Director from North Shore Community College. His commitment to physical education shaped the lives of countless students, instilling in them the values of teamwork, perseverance, and lifelong learning.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Peter was devoted to his family. He was very proud of his children and their many accomplishments and was truly happiest, being involved in his grandchildren's many activities and celebrating their many milestones. He was an avid boater for over 50 years, sharing his love of the water with family and friends as a member of the Danversport and Jubilee Yacht Clubs. His adventurous spirit for boating brought joy to many, creating many lasting memories on the open sea. His most recent vessel was named "Della-Ca-Sea".
In later years, Peter explored his artistic talents, painting portraits and landscapes that captured the beauty of life around him. These works of art now serve as treasured mementos for his family, a lasting testament to his creativity and love. He kept up with the latest technology ensuring he remained engaged and informed in this rapidly changing world. He loved to cook, and fix things, especially taking them apart and putting them back together again with the precision of an engineer. Peter will be fondly remembered as a kind, gentle and compassionate man and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Peter are his sons, Peter Della Monica and his wife Sheri of Boxford and Jason Della Monica of Danvers, his granddaughters, Madison, Sofia and Caitlin. He was also the father of the late Adam Della Monica.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 9 to 10 AM followed by his funeral service at 10:30 AM. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Peter's name to The Trustees of Reservations to honor the many years of family boating memories created at Misery Island and Kettle Cove in Beverly and Manchester, MA.
