IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Francis Roy
"Frank" Costello
April 28, 1932 – September 18, 2024
BOXFORD – Mr. Francis Roy "Frank" Costello, 92 of Boxford, loving husband of the late Ruth J. (MacCracken) Costello, passed away peacefully on September 18th, 2024 at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford.
Born in Boston, Frank was the son of the late Louis and Constance (Calland) Costello. He was raised and educated in Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston English High School in 1948. He graduated two years early at the age of 16 as he was double promoted in Elementary School. He worked at his father's Sunoco Station until reaching the age of 18 when he enlisted in the Air Force. There, entered DC Electrical Schooling for the B-25 which set him up for his future Civilian career in the electronic field.
An honorably discharged veteran of the Korean War, Frank proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.
Frank was a dedicated family man who, alongside his beloved wife Ruth, co-founded and ran the successful family business, R.F.C. Electronics Manufacturing Representatives, Inc. A dynamic duo, Ruth handled the books while Frank excelled in sales, showcasing their seamless partnership in both work and life.
They shared their love of the Coast of Maine when they bought their first of two quintessential "Old Maine Cottages" in 1968. There, on Southport Island, they summered and raised their family, enjoying boating and sightseeing. Most days ended sitting on their front porch with a westerly view over the Sheepscot River. Each evening, a brilliant Summer Sunset was all Ruth & Frank could hope for to end a perfect day. Frank was also a true enthusiast of Antique Hudson's. He was a long-standing member of the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club. He proudly owned and kept in great running condition a 1947 Commodore Eight and a 1946 Super Six. Frank attended many HET Club meetings and loved to cruise around the back roads in his Hudson's.
A true gentle man, Frank had a special warmth and sincerity that was adored by all. He took great pride in helping others, family and friends and was always one to depend on. Frank lived a wonderful life and considered himself to be fortunate, although he greatly missed his wife Ruth in everything he did, he worked hard, was kind to all and stayed true to himself. He will be deeply missed by his family and many dear friends.
Frank is survived by his three children, Christopher D. Costello and his wife, Maureen of Loudon, TN, Karen E. Stickney and her husband Chris, of St. George, ME and Lisa S. Costello of Boxford, MA; his grandchildren, David Costello and his wife, Katie, Sarah Costello, Kevin Costello and his wife, Elena, Benjamin Stickney and his wife, Marie and Matthew Stickney; his great-grandchildren, Ethan and Olivia Costello and Thomas Stickney and many nieces and nephews.
