IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Francis A.
Silva
April 3, 1942 – July 18, 2025
SALEM – Mr. Francis "Frank" Anthony Silva, 83, of Salem, devoted husband of Mary Anne (Killeen) Silva, died July 18th, 2025 at Salem Hospital.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Anthony and Eva (Duchene) Silva. Frank lived a life filled with dedication, compassion, and service to his community. A proud lifelong resident of the city of Salem, Frank was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School (Vocational) as a member of the Class of 1960. Very soon thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Navy Seabees, serving his country with honor and commitment.
Mr. Silva had been employed with the United States Postal Service for over 30 years until the time of his retirement in 1994.
Frank had a deep sense of duty, which he carried throughout his life for his family, country, and community. He volunteered locally with the North Shore Community Action Programs where he worked tirelessly to uplift and assist those in need. In addition to his service to others, Frank was passionate about capturing the spirit of Salem through his work with Salem Access Television, where he filmed and documented countless events, preserving the cultural tapestry of his beloved town. His dedication extended further as an active member of the Salem Veteran's Council, where he honored and remembered those who served alongside him. Frank was known for his deep love of sports, a passion that kept him cheering through many seasons - he notoriously never missed a hockey game! He was an ardent supporter of Salem High School Witches Hockey as well as Salem State Hockey. This passion for sports was acquired at a young age as he worked on the bull gang at the Boston Garden switching the playing surfaces from Celtics Basketball to Bruins Hockey. He also found joy and camaraderie with the Arbella Drum Corps, where he created many lifelong friendships.
Frank and Mary Anne were a great team and the best of friends. They did almost everything together and supported each other in all of their endeavors. From travel to volunteering, together they were great role models of love and support for their family and friends.
Surviving Frank in addition to his beloved wife Mary Anne are his children, Darlene Conrad and her husband Patrick of Peabody, Patrick Silva and his wife Nancy of Rowley, and Wayne Silva and wife Katie of Salem. He also leaves behind his seven grandchildren, Tyler, Madison, Alison, Ashley, Shaun, Jack, and Mia, as well as his dear cousin, Lorraine Thompson of New Hampshire. The bonds of family were of utmost importance to Francis, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
