BEVERLY – Frank P. Costa, Jr., 82, of Beverly, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Frank P. Sr. and Norma (Scott) Costa.
Frank was raised and educated in Beverly, graduating in 1963 from Beverly High Trade School. After high school, Frank joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country
After his service, Frank built a career rooted in hard work and dedication. For 25 years, he was a cornerstone of Quinn Brothers in Essex, rising through the ranks to retire in 2012 as superintendent. Even in retirement, Frank remained a familiar and beloved presence at the annual Topsfield Fair, where he could be found each year, in the flower barn or cattle barn where he brought many calves into the world.
Frank was a man who found his truest peace in the natural world. Whether he was hiking through wooded trails or spending quiet nights under the stars at a campsite, the outdoors was his sanctuary. His passions were as colorful as they were genuine. An avid collector and admirer of antique automobiles, Frank took tremendous pride in his vehicles over the years. None, however, captured his heart quite like his 1988 Dodge Ram, which he transformed into something truly one of a kind. Outfitted with "The Backseat Diner," his beloved truck became an attraction unto itself, earning him numerous awards and trophies that reflected not just his talent, but his joy in sharing it with others.
Frank is survived by his son, Duane Costa and his wife Nicole of Glendale, AZ, his granddaughter, Macie Costa of Glendale, AZ, his sister, Beth Howland and her husband Doug of New Hampshire, and his brothers, John Costa and his wife Ruth of Beverly and Richard Costa and his wife Diana of Maine. Frank also leaves behind his basset hound, Norman, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
