ROCKPORT, MA - It is with deep sadness & immense love that we mourn the passing of Gary W. McCrory on July 13th, 2024. Gary was known for his generosity, his laughter and kindness, the only thing bigger than his personality was his heart. His smile was as genuine as they come and he always had a joke for anyone listening, brightening the lives of those he encountered.

Born in Kenner, Louisiana in 1958 he graduated from Picayune High School. His extensive career as a crane operator began at the age of 14 and was admirable. He was a proud union member of Louisiana, Mississippi & Massachusetts Local 4.  Gary's work ethic & abilities were rare, taking him from Louisiana, to Puerto Rico & eventually Massachusetts where he worked on The Big Dig. It is there, in Rockport, Massachusetts that he met his wife, Barbara and where he called home for the last 35 years. And although he left the South, the South never left him.

Gary's creativity was boundless along with his love & patience, which he shared with his daughter Carleigh & son Dustin. Words cannot express the gratitude we all share having just known him. He had such an extraordinary presence that it's hard to refer to him in the past. To have him for a moment, was to have a friend for a lifetime. Gary is survived by his wife, Barbara, Billie, their cat, son, Dustin (Tara), daughter, Carleigh (Pamela) & three grandchildren, Parker, Ethan & Liam, mother, Tressie McCrory, sister, Sheila Davis & brother, David (Lynn).  He is predeceased in death by his father, Billy Everette McCrory, mother-in-law, Sylia R. Linsky, brothers-in-law, John Davis, Peter & Thomas Linsky; nephews Wesley Davis & Gavin Pell.
