WELLS, MAINE - Mr. George H. Arrington Jr., 93, formerly of Beverly, husband of the late Margaret E. (Buckley) Arrington, died peacefully in St. Andre Health Care Center, in Biddeford, Maine on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 with his family at his side.

Born in Salem on October 22, 1919, he was the son of the late Leroy and Alice (Clinton) Arrington. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during WW II as a member of the United States Navy and was the recipient of many medals and awards.

For over 50 years he had been employed in the freight industry and at the time of his retirement, he was the manager for the Beacon Fast Freight Co. formerly of Peabody and Danvers.

A devout family man he was dedicated to his son and grandchildren. To be closer to his beloved family, George moved to Wells, Maine four years ago.

George is survived by his devoted son, George H. Arrington III and his wife Eleanor of Wells, Maine, and his extended family.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common), Salem, Monday, May 6th at 10 A.M. Visitation period prior to the service from 9 to 10 A.M. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made in George's memory to the charity of one's choice.
