SALEM - Mr. George J. Kehoe, 81, of Salem, beloved husband of Joan M. (Krevatis) Kehoe, died Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his family.

Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late James and Gertrude (Gauthier) Kehoe. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.

As a young man, George served his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

After his honorable discharge, he returned to Salem and began his career as an experimental machinist for the former United Shoe Machine Corporation in Beverly. He had been employed for that company for many years and was well respected for his work as a machinist.

George was an avid fisherman and was famous for his art of fly-tying. He also enjoyed woodworking and camping with his family.

In addition to his wife Joan with whom he shared 57 years of marriage, he is survived by his two sons, Michael and his wife Shannon Kehoe of Salem and John and his wife Carla Kehoe of Granite Bay, CA, his three daughters, Susan and her husband Steven Szczechowicz, Laurie and her husband Carlos Gomes and Lee Ann Kehoe all of Salem, his ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild, his two sisters, Mary Thibedeau of Haverhill and Gertrude Bertone of Salem and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by one brother, Arthur Kehoe and one sister Stella Bertone.

ARRANGEMENTS: His visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 2, 2017 in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq. (at Salem Common), Salem, from 4 to 8 P.M. Relatives and friends invited. His graveside service will be held Wednesday, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem at 11 A.M. to which relatives and friends are invited.
