BYFIELD – Attorney George E. Morse, age 82 of Byfield, MA, passed away peacefully on October 8th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
George was born in Salem, MA on February 19th, 1941, to the late Olga and Elihu Morse of Swampscott, MA. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Joan N. Morse; two sons, Evan B. Morse (wife Elizabeth), of Beverly, MA, Andrew C. Morse (wife Christine), of Poway, CA; and three cherished grandchildren, Amy Morse of Brooklyn, NY, and Connor and Katie Morse of Poway, CA.
George proudly served his country as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve, with active duty from 1962 to 1964 and in the ready reserve from 1964 to 1970. He graduated from Wilbraham Academy in 1958 and earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia in 1962. He obtained his Juris Doctor from Boston University Law School in 1967. That same year, George was admitted to the Massachusetts bar, where he specialized in estate planning, probate, and tax law. A member of both the Essex County and Massachusetts Bar Associations, he co-founded the successful law firm Ardiff, Ardiff & Morse PC in Danvers, MA, alongside William Ardiff and his close friend of 56 years, Ralph Ardiff. George held the position of managing partner until his retirement in 1995. He was also a dedicated member of the Kiwanis Club of Danvers and served as its president from 1976 to 1977. More recently, George continued his service to the community as a member of the Newbury, MA Planning Board until his passing.
George loved photography, making pizza & cinnamon rolls for his grandchildren, SpongeBob, Headspace meditations, and long talks and good food with his wife.
ARRANGEMENTS: The family has elected to hold a private memorial service. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) DANVERS.
