IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Georgette M.
(Mercier) Labrie
October 15, 1932 – January 3, 2023
PEABODY - Georgette M (Mercier) Labrie of Brooksby Village, Peabody, MA and formerly of Salem, MA, Waterboro, ME and Ft Lauderdale, FL passed away peacefully at her home on January 3, 2023.
Born on October 15, 1932, she was one of seventeen children born to Patrick and Mary-Anne Mercier in St Pierre Baptiste, Quebec, Canada. She was the beloved wife of the late Zoel A. Labrie with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Georgette earned her teaching certificate and taught elementary grade students until she immigrated to the US in 1954. She lived, loved and worked side by side with her husband as the office manager and bookkeeper for his carpentry and contractor business for many years.
Together, their love of the outdoors and travel brought them all across Canada, the United States and many European countries. They would hit the road by car, camper, or snowmobile. She particularly loved the beach and the ocean and enjoyed many cruises to tropical, sunny locales.
Georgette was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. Not one to sit still, she could be found busily working in her kitchen or garden, or joining any group playing games. The ultimate hostess for the many gatherings at "the camp" on the lake in Maine, she was the magnet that drew family from far and wide to enjoy the ever-present homemade cookies, apple pies, sugar pies and specialty red cake. She was a warm and welcoming person who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Diane Hubisz and her husband David Smart, Gisele Girard and her husband David, and Sandra Oliva and her husband Carmine, and nine grandchildren; Jay Hubisz and wife Melissa, Brad Hubisz, Shauna Coppinger, Eric Girard and wife Haley, Leanne Parker and husband Chris, Tiffany Moglia and husband William, Corinne Anderson and husband Riley, Victoria Oliva and partner Angelo, and Samantha Oliva. She leaves behind sixteen great-grandchildren; Riley, Maple, Noah, Emma, Aubrie, Owen, Eliza, Eliot, Charlie, Noella, Leah, Kaylee, Brielle, Aislyn, Conor, and Jack, along with several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by six of her siblings: Roger, Laurent, Lucienne, Henri-Louis, Micheline, and Ginette.
