Obituary

PEABODY - Mr. Gerald C. "Jerry" Lovell, 86 of Peabody formerly of Revere, beloved husband of Jean A. (Devereaux) Lovell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

Born on January 3rd, 1939 in Taunton, MA, he was the son of the late John F. Lovell Sr. and Gladys (Kilcup) Lovell. He was raised and educated in South Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School.

Devoted to his country, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army National Guard, demonstrating a strong commitment to his country for 30 years. He proudly attained the rank of Staff Sergeant prior to his retirement from the reserves, a testament to his discipline and leadership.

Professionally, Jerry built a fulfilling career in the printing industry, specializing in bookbinding as a paper trimmer. He initially developed his skills at Star Bindery in South Boston and retired from Nimrod Press where he was known for his strong work ethic and his dedication to his craftsmanship.

A devoted husband, father, and Papa, Jerry placed family at the very heart of his life. He looked forward to his annual cruises to Bermuda with his wife and dear friends, and loved taking the whole family camping. Whether sharing stories from history, discussing the latest in politics, or recounting his own adventures, Jerry's love for storytelling brought joy to everyone around him.

Jerry was kind, witty, and full of knowledge. He loved nothing more than singing and dancing with his favorite partner, Jean, or trying to outscore his next cribbage opponent. A gentle giant with a sharp wit and a constant smile, Jerry will be remembered with love and missed deeply by everyone who knew him.

Gerald shared nearly 60 years of a loving marriage with his wife Jean. Gerald was a devoted father to Jeannie Pintone and her husband John of Woburn, MA, and the late Wayne Lovell and his wife Janelle of Wakefield, MA. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan Lovell and his wife Emily of San Diego, CA; Nicole Grieco and her husband Colin of Reading, MA; Danielle Pintone of Woburn, MA; and Hailey Lovell of San Diego, CA. Gerald was also a cherished great-grandfather to Carson Grieco of Reading, MA. Brother of the late Gladys McCleary, John F. Lovell Jr., Francis Lovell, Ellen Mahaney, Rosemary Lovell, and the brother of Ruth Williams. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
