Gerald Douglas Tobin

DANVERS - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Douglas Tobin, of Danvers, Massachusetts, on July 21, 2026. He was 90 years old.

Gerald was a devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, successful businessman, and cherished friend. He shared an extraordinary 70-year marriage with his beloved wife Barbara Tobin, a partnership built in love, commitment and family. He also leaves behind their five children and their spouses: Kevin Tobin, husband of the beloved late Catherine Jean Tobin, Keith Tobin and his wife Donna, Karen Tobin, Kristine Foley and her husband David, and Kathleen Ryan and her husband Terrence. He is further survived by his treasured grandchildren, Brian Tobin and his wife Cassie, Matthew Tobin, Melissa Kelliher and her husband John, Jeffrey Tobin and his wife Jacqueline, Allison Tobin, Chloe Jahm, Kyle Jahm, Molly Ryan, and Madeline Ryan and his cherished great grandchildren Luca, Lena, Lorenzo, Liliana, Leonardo, Darrin, Nora, Jacxson, and EJ, who brought him endless pride and joy.

Gerald's life was defined by hard work, service, family, and laughter. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958 aboard a Destroyer. Upon returning home, Gerald built a legacy founding Tobin & Sons Moving and Storage in 1960. His business leadership and dedication helped establish a trusted family enterprise that has served the North Shore community for many years. He later founded T & R Vending and eventually retired from North Shore Community College.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gerald embraced life with enthusiasm and a love for simple pleasures. He enjoyed boxing, camping, boating, and fishing, and was never one to pass up a good meal—especially if it included one of his favorite treats, a raspberry turnover. Known for his quick wit, Gerald was a gifted and hilarious storyteller who would leave family and friends laughing long after the story ended.

Above all, Gerald cherished his family and the time spent with those he loved. He shared a special bond with his dog, Cooper, who was always by his side and will undoubtedly miss his constant companion.

Gerald's kindness, humor, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family leave a lasting legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created, the stories he told, and the love he shared will be treasured forever.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

ARRANEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Monday, July 27th from 4 to 7 PM.  Gerald's funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 28th at 10 AM. Burial at Wenham Cemetery, Main St., Wenham.
