DANVERS- Mrs. Glenne (Grant) Bruce 80, of Danvers, beloved wife of Malcolm Bruce, died August 27, 2014 at Ledgewood Nursing Home following a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Harlan and Florence (Steel) Grant. She was raised and educated in Cambridge. She attended the University of Vermont and was a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. She continued her education at Emerson College earning her Master's Degree. Glenne began pursuing her life's passion at the age of four, performing in summer stock at various theatres throughout the North East. She had been employed as an educator at the Boston Conservatory of Music starting by teaching Children's theatre, speech and Acting and Directing. Most recently she was designated the Director of the Drama Department at the Boston Conservatory until the time of her retirement. A longtime resident of the Town of Danvers, Mrs. Bruce enjoyed spending her summers performing at the Weston Play House in Weston, Vermont. She was a long time member of the North Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Danvers. She enjoyed her weekend fellowship at the Trinity Church in Topsfield and had a deep passion for Animals. She will be deeply missed. Glenne is survived by her loving husband, of 45 years Malcolm Bruce of Danvers, her daughter Kerry Rye of Seattle, Washington and her grandson Cooper Rye of Seattle, Washington and many cousins including Peggy Farmer of Philadelphia and Janet Beuerle and Laura Nitchie and additional family and friends including her lifelong friend Fran Wade of Sebego, Maine.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service which will be held in the Northshore Unitarian Universalist Church, 323 Locust St., Danvers, Sunday, September 7th at 2 P.M.. Burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Glenne's memory to the Weston Play House, 703 Main St., Weston, Vt., 05161 or to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970.
