Obituary

PEABODY - On February 1, 2025, we lost a beautiful soul.  Our mother, Greta Bellefontaine, was a loving, compassionate woman who took great joy in making those around her happy.  We were blessed to have her as our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and companion. Born in Harlston, England, Greta's life journey eventually led her to Peabody, Massachusetts.

Greta was a devoted homemaker, finding her greatest joy in nurturing her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. She instilled the values of kindness, resilience, and love in her children, leaving a legacy that will continue to thrive through generations to come. Her favorite moments were spent surrounded by family, especially during her beloved Thanksgiving celebrations, when over 30 family members would gather in joyous bedlam, filling her heart with happiness.

Married to her beloved husband Edgar Bellefontaine for over 50 years, she shared countless cherished memories with him before his passing.  She found joy and companionship in her later years with Roy Deveau, her dance partner and dear companion. She loved both of these extraordinary men.

Greta will be remembered not just for her unwavering devotion to her family but also for her gentle spirit and the warmth she brought into the lives of everyone she encountered. A woman of grace and dignity, who will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.

Surviving Greta are her children, Denise Columbare and her husband Fred, Debbie Bristol and her husband Kip, Trevor Bellefontaine and his wife Laurie, Bill Bellefontaine and his wife Gail, Yvonne Ferrelli and her husband Richard, and Lynda Broom and her husband Robbie; her grandchildren, Elia Waters and her husband Rob, Loren Fitzgibbons and her husband Joe, Megan Ridge and her husband Sean, Trevor Bristol and his wife Christi, Kendra Bristol, TJ, Tyler and Julia Bellefontaine, Jacquelyn Bellefontaine, Richie, Henry and Johnny Ferrelli, Aaron Broom and his partner Jan, and Dean Broom, her great-grandchildren, Connor, Lilly, Clementine, Alex, Isaac, Amora and Archie; and many nieces and nephews.
