Obituary

BOSTON – Ms. Hannah Renée Desrochers, 35, of Boston passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 4, 2022. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Beth (Bonnette) Desrochers and George Desrochers. Hannah brought passion, empathy, humility, and service to everything she did.

Hannah was raised in Georgetown, Massachusetts, and graduated from Georgetown High School in 2005 before pursuing the call to nursing. Hannah attended Simmons University for a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, and later graduated from Northeastern University with a Masters in Pediatric Nursing.

Hannah began her career as a community health nurse on a Navajo Reservation near the Grand Canyon. She returned to Boston to serve as a surgical pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Boston Children's Hospital and the Joslin Diabetes Center. Her patients and their families valued her empathic attention and care, informed by her 27 years of personal experience with type I diabetes. Her dedication to service extended to work in school-based primary healthcare for high risk and minority populations as well as children with autism.

She immersed herself in cultures, food, and language through travel. She was an adventurous hiker (Patagonia!) and tennis player in warm weather and snowshoed in winter. She was dedicated to her yoga and meditation practice and a certified yoga instructor. She found great solace and refuge in nature. She loved taking walks and gardening with her son Luca and her gentle rescue dog Yana. Hannah gave the deepest hugs and lit up a room with her smile.

In addition to her parents; Beth and George Desrochers, Hannah is survived by her beloved son, Luca Rene Desrochers, the light in her life, along with her siblings; Laura Desrochers and her husband Daniel Viens, and nieces Juliet and Simone. She is also survived by Evan Desrochers and his wife, Monica. In addition, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Delphine Bonnette, and several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
