PEABODY - Mr. Harry Raymond Bedell, Jr., 99, of Peabody, formerly of Andover, a retired electrical engineer, husband of the late Audrey G. (Myers) Bedell, died on September 14, 2026 in Beverly surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Saugus, Harry was the son of the late Harry R. and Charlotte (Young) Bedell, Sr., he received his education in the Saugus school system and earned his degree from Northeastern University in Boston, class of 1950.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. Mr. Bedell had been employed for thirty-six years as an electrical engineer for AT&T Network Systems, formerly Bell Laboratories, in North Andover until the time of his retirement in 1989.
A resident of the City of Peabody since 2002, prior to that he had resided in Andover. Mr. Bedell was a member of the Andover Historical Society and was a former leader of the Yankee Clipper Boy Scout Council in Haverhill. Harry had always been active in Boy Scouts earning the Eagle Scout award as a teenager. He is also the recipient of the Silver Beaver, the highest recognition given by the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed gardening, family camping trips and after his retirement went on many vacations with Audrey.
In addition to his parents, Harry is predeceased by his wife, Audrey G. (Myers) Bedell and his son, Raymond G. Bedell of North Carolina.
Harry is survived by one daughter Rhonda L. Topham of Marshfield, two sons and three daughters-in-law, Linda Bedell of North Carolina, Randell B. Bedell and Diane of Franklin, and Russell D. Bedell and Mary of Dracut, six grandchildren, Karen Purvis, Cheryl Foss, Timothy Bedell, Jack Topham, Samuel Topham and Daniel Topham, and five great grandchildren, Brendan Purvis, Madison Purvis, Morgan Foss, Mia Foss, and Pierce Topham.
ARRANGEMENTS: Arrangements will be private. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O’Donnell Cremations – Funerals - Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) Danvers.
