Obituary

DANVERS - Mr. Howard Curtis "Bud" Remon, age 90, beloved husband of Barbara (Ball) Remon, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage, passed away on May 22nd, 2024.

Born in Salem on February 7th, 1934, he was the son of the late Herbert A. and Marjorie G. Remon. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1951. A gifted athlete Bud was a member of the Salem High Varsity Basketball Team for three years and one year on the Varsity Baseball team. Bud continued his education earning his bachelor's degree from Northeastern University.

Buds career began following his graduation. He spent eight years in the Naval Reserves. He worked for 5 years at the Registry of Deeds, followed by a 15 - year tenure at H.P. Hood Milk Company, starting as a route salesman and advancing to computer programmer. Bud's career included stints with A.C. Lawrence and Damon Corporation as supervisor of programming. He then spent 21 years at Bostik where he advanced from computer programmer to manager of operations and telecommunications. After retirement he worked at Healthfront Services as a computer operator.

Active in his community and civic circles, Bud was a member of the Northshore ARC and served on the Board of Directors for many years and was a member of the Marine Society of Salem. He volunteered with the Special Olympics and was also active with Aleppo Shriners, working at shows, parades, and collecting donations for the Shrine Hospitals. Bud was a member of the coaching staff with the Danvers, YMCA Dolfins Swim Team from 1976 – 1983.

Active his whole life, Bud played baseball with the Salem American Legion and enjoyed many hobbies over the years including bowling, tennis, softball, golf, road races, and bridge (for which he received the rank of Life Master). At the time of his death, he enjoyed walking and weightlifting.

Surviving Bud is his wife, Barbara Remon of Danvers, his children, Mark Remon of Peabody, Kammy Hicks of ME, Trina Remon of GA, Jodi Remon of Hamilton, MA. His grandchildren, Jake Hicks of CA, Crystal Putek and her husband, Rob of ME, Michael Watson of GA, Jenna Switzer and her husband, Jason of GA, Alexandra, and Michael Padellaro of Hamilton. His great-grandchildren, Bill and Nathan Howell, Caylee Putek, Benjamin, Mason, and Mia Switzer. He had a special niece, Heidi Buchan and her children, Zachary, Tanzi, and Nina Buchan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Angela Remon. Bud was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Greeke, and his brother, Herbert A. Remon Jr. and his wife, Alice.
