Jacqueline (Myles)
O'Connell
June 28, 1932 – September 17, 2024
SWAMPSCOTT – Mrs. Jacqueline (Myles) O'Connell, 92 of Swampscott, wife of the late John "Jack" O'Connell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Medford, Jackie was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Keating) Myles. Raised and educated in Stoneham, Jackie was a graduate of Stoneham High School, class of 1950. She continued her education at Salem State Teachers College where she earned her bachelor's degree in Education.
A lifelong learner and educator, Jackie first started her professional career as an elementary school teacher for Burlington Public Schools. She would then dedicate over 25 years teaching the 3rd grade at St. Mary of the Annunciation School in Danvers.
Jackie had a deep love for her family, and as a young woman, she was extremely close with her parents, siblings, aunts and uncles. She was an exceptional wife, mother and grandmother; truly happiest when with her family. Her most cherished activities included days spent at the beach, walks around Marblehead Neck, attending athletic events of her children and grandchildren, gardening, and meeting family members for lunch or dinner. As an avid reader, she enjoyed sitting on her sun porch with a good book and a cup of tea. Jackie lived a simple life, with love and kindness and will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the memory care unit at the Bertram House of Swampscott for the exceptional care of their mother; especially nurses Allie, Katie, and Patrick, activities coordinator Linda Lezott, and Hospice Nurse Jodie Donovan.
Jackie is survived by her children, Michael O'Connell and his wife, Lisa of Peabody, Maureen King and her husband, Rick of Marblehead, Patricia O'Connell of Los Angeles, CA and Suzanne Butler and her husband, Marty of Salem; her grandchildren, Shannon O'Connell, Bridget O'Connell, Lindsay King and her partner Michael Caira, James King, Jacqueline Butler and Cody Butler; great- granddaughter, Brayleigh Caira; her sister, Marilynn Simpson and her husband, Donald of Stoneham and many nieces and nephews.
