SALEM - Mr. James Harold Kilroy, 80, of Salem, beloved husband of Harriet Rose Tarr Kilroy, died Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Chelsea, he was the son of the late William and Mary E. (Arsenault) Kilroy. He was raised and educated in Chelsea and Cambridge and was a graduate of the Sisters of Notre Dame Academy. He continued his education at Salem State College. Professionally, Mr. Kilroy began his career as a working Musician and then joined the United States Army, becoming a Special Agent in Military Intelligence in the early 1960's. Upon his honorable discharge from the US Army, he resumed his career in music. He was the proprietor of The Piano Warehouse in Danvers for over 30 years. He was also the Organist for the Boston Red Sox Professional Baseball Club, as well as the Organist for the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins, following in the footsteps of John Kiley. He was the founder of Jim Kilroy's Jambalaya Jazz Band, playing music professionally all over the East Coast and New Orleans. He was the Author, Lyricist and Composer of two Musicals- "The Lost Prince" and "Mardi Gras - A Musical" and was well respected throughout the Professional Music Community. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Harriet Rose Tarr Kilroy of Salem, his children, James Kilroy Jr and his wife Maria of Newburyport, Ann Kilroy-Whitman of Gloucester, Steven Kilroy of Salem and Lynn Beals and her husband Jamie of Saco, ME, his grandchildren, Michelle, Diana, Christian, Grace, Angelica, Domenic, Adele, Jason, Eric, Ian, Emily and Ivy, many nieces and nephews and his extended friends throughout the music profession. He was the brother of the late Adele Cataldo, Elinor Fletcher, Jeanne Rowe and William Kilroy Jr.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass which will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., Salem, on Tuesday, February 25th at 10 A.M. Burial is private. Visiting hours omitted. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem.
