Obituary

PEABODY - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James R. Pierce, a beloved husband, talented architect, and cherished member of the community. Born on March 26, 1936, in Hyannis, MA, he was the beloved son of the late Barnard and Madeline (Connolly) Pierce. He was the loving husband of Helen V. Pierce with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage.

James was a proud graduate of Barnstable High School in 1955 where he excelled in sports and academics, and later earned his associates degree from Wentworth College in 1957. James dedicated over three decades of his life to Payette Associates, where his creativity and passion for architecture shone through in every project he worked on. His meticulous sketches and attention to detail were a testament to his skill and dedication to his craft. Despite retiring in 2004, James's legacy as an architect continues to inspire those who had the pleasure of working with him.

Outside of work, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid bowler, a talented gardener, and a passionate golfer, finding solace and joy in these hobbies. He had a love for travel, with the Hawaiian Islands holding a special place in his heart.

James's true pride and joy, however, was his family. He shared a deep and loving bond with his wife, Helen Pierce, and their memories together will forever be cherished.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by his daughter Janine M. Gallacher and her husband Patrick J. and their son Patrick J. II, step-children; Scott Bingel, Lisa Bingel-Ferri, Lauri Murphy, and Alan Bingel, his sister Elaine F. Austin and her husband Michael, his former wife Charline Pierce, and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his niece and nephews.
