Obituary

DANVERS – Mr. James Stanley Shaffaval 80, of Danvers, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 at Lawrence General Hospital.

Born in Salem, MA, he was the son of the late Samuel and Stacia (Galuska) Shaffaval. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1960. He continued his education at Northeastern University.

Professionally, Mr. Shaffaval was a manufacturing engineer within the aerospace industry. Throughout his career, he was employed with Babco Industries in Danvers, Gloucester Engineering and Middleton Aerospace. He was known for his dedication to his craft and was highly respected in the field. He continued to consult in retirement working with Arwood Machine in Newburyport.

A loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Jimmy loved to spend his time golfing. He was a long-time member of the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club, the Italian American Citizen's Club in Beverly, the Union Club in Beverly and the Beverly Elks. His friendly, good-natured personality endeared him to many. He enjoyed traveling especially his annual trips to Saratoga and the White Mountains. He had a passion for politics and loved a lively debate. Jim will be remembered for his constant smile and positive outlook throughout the toughest of challenges. He loved his family, his friends, his canine companions, and his strawberry shakes.

James is survived by his daughter, Karen St. Pierre and her husband, Duke of Danvers, his son, Todd Shaffaval and his wife, Sonya of Danvers, his grandchildren, Kevin, Kaelie and Erin St. Pierre and Mikayla and Madelyn Shaffaval, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former spouse and dear friend, Maureen (Lynch) Shaffaval of Danvers. He was the brother of the late Carol Papparella, Sandra Lee and Joseph Shaffaval and brother-in-law of the late Irene Shaffaval.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) DANVERS, Thursday, July 13th from 4 to 7 P.M.
