SALEM - Mr. James M. Twomey, 87, of Salem formerly of Lynn, beloved husband of the late Lillian (Cunningham) Twomey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Eugene and Catherine (Wall) Twomey. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School.

An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Twomey proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Jim worked his entire professional career at the General Electrical Company as a manager in their Data Processing Department, retiring after 36 years of dedicated service. Following retirement, he was employed by Coptec, a software company, for several more years.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Jim loved his family, his community, and friends. An avid sports fan, Jim never missed an opportunity to watch his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. Being involved in their lives gave him great joy and he was so proud of their many accomplishments. Known as the Mayor of the neighborhood, Jim never met a stranger only a new friend. He was outgoing and would talk to anyone but especially was always there to lend a hand. He was a huge Boston sports fan, catching whatever game was on. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, bird watching and most of all traveling to Naples, Florida every year with his beloved Lillian. Jim will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.

Surviving Jim are his sons, Michael Twomey and his wife, Kathy of Salem, Scott Twomey, and his wife, Linda of The Villages, FL and Steven Twomey and his wife, MaryJane of Marblehead, his grandchildren, Sean, David, Matthew, Kevin, Greg, Colleen, Catherine, Cameron, Ashley, and Haily, his 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Mary, Gene, Garrett, Joseph, Jack, Catherine, and Alice.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held in O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Friday, October 13th at 10 A.M.
