Obituary

MIDDLETON – Mrs. Janet Arlene (Crosby) Jones, 85 of Middleton, loving wife of the late Earl F. Jones, Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the Webster at Rye Assisted Living in Rye, New Hampshire with her loving family by her side.

Born in Beverly, Janet was the daughter of the late Robert and Madeline (Dodge) Crosby. Growing up in Beverly, she attended Beverly Public Schools and was a graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1957. Later in life, Janet continued her education, receiving her associates degree in Business.

As a young woman, Janet met Middleton native Earl Jones, fell in love, married, and settled in Middleton where they created their forever home, started a family and shared nearly 70 years of marriage. Together they were one, enjoying the many ups and downs of life.

Janet devoted her professional career to the United States Postal Service where she worked in the towns of Middleton, Rockport, Essex and lastly Boxford, where she retired as Postmaster after dedicating over 30 years to her working career.

With a deep love for her family, Janet was happiest when surrounded by her large and loving family filled with children, grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She had a kind heart with a dash of sass and was a true and great friend to many. She loved traveling, visiting all over the world with her husband and family, visiting places like China, Europe, Mexico, Canada and all over the United States. Her kind heart and sense of spunk will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving Janet are her children, Eric Jones and his wife, Silvana of Nashua, NH, Lori LaBrie and her husband, Steven of Salem, MA and Linda Porter and her husband, Allan of Stratham, NH; her 9 grandchildren, Laura Core and her husband, Rasaan, Eric Jones and his wife, Shannon, Andreia Martins, Andressa Carrol and her husband, Robert, Janet Fiore and her husband, Michael, Sandra Lowrey and her partner, Jerry, Katie Lowrey and her partner, Palani, Megan Gamache and her husband, Paul and Gary Porter and his wife, Lisa; 16 great-grandchildren and her brother, Roger Crosby and his wife, Irene; her sister, Marcia Jackins and brother-in-law  William Blackburn and several nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her loving husband, parents, and siblings, Robert Crosby, Lauren Crosby, Wendell Crosby, Walter Crosby and Jeanne Blackburn.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Janet's funeral service which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Saturday, November 30th at 10 A.M. Burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 29th from 2 to 5 P.M.
