Jean Manganiello Ciccarello

PEABODY - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Manganiello Ciccarello, 98, of Peabody, Massachusetts, on August 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Jean — affectionately known to so many as “Nonnie” — will be deeply missed. She was a remarkable woman of unwavering strength, a loving mother, a devoted Nonnie, Great-Nonnie, and truly one of a kind.

Jean was born in Somerville on December 17, 1927, and raised in Medford. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Dorothy Carpinella and sister of the late Gerard Carpinella.

Jean was predeceased by her first husband, Freddie Manganiello. Together, they shared a love of cooking while running Fiorenzo’s, their pizza place on Revere Beach, during the 1950s & 60s.

She was also predeceased by her second husband, Joseph “Chick” Ciccarello; and is survived by his daughters, Christine, Joanne, and Stephanie; and sons-in-law Paul Bocko and Robert Nakashian. She was lovingly known as “Nana” to Lucia Ciccarello, Nina Bocko, and Bailey Bocko.

Jean happily devoted her life to what mattered most to her — family. She was well known for her incredible cooking, the recipes, traditions, and memories created around her table will continue for generations. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the love, joy, humor, and unmistakable sassiness that became such a wonderful part of who Jean was, especially in her later years. She leaves behind her son, her pride and joy, Carmine Manganiello and his wife, Susan. Nonnie’s legacy will live on through their children, Nicholas Manganiello and his wife, Maggie; AnnMarie Manganiello; and GinaBeth Tolios and her husband, Chris; and her precious great-granddaughter, Gia Tolios, who brought her tremendous joy.

Jean also leaves behind her dearest cousin, Tami Carucci, whose friendship, love, and devotion meant so much to her throughout the years. Her weekly phone calls were always greatly appreciated and something Jean looked forward to.

She will also be deeply missed by the beloved family dog. Coconut who was always on her lap, and brought her comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.

Nonnie was truly a blessing to so many. She and Chick became de facto grandparents to Carmine and Susan’s family circle, The Vinci, Wall & Hurley children, who lovingly embraced them as their own grandparents. They were there for outings, Grandparents’ Days, parties, celebrations, vacations, and so many ordinary moments in between — always showing up with love.

Jean also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Anna “Tootsie” Bucceiri, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins from both sides of her family.

Jean lived an extraordinary 98 years. She experienced great love and great loss, but through it all, her strength endured, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply, she found some of her greatest happiness.

Her chair may now be empty, and our kitchen may be a little quieter, but Nonnie will forever have a place at our table and in our hearts.

ARRANGMENTS: Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in celebrating Jean’s life at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut Street, Peabody, Massachusetts, on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. Following the service, all are invited to gather for a luncheon to continue celebrating and sharing memories of Nonnie. A private burial will take place at a later date.
