DANVERS – Mrs. Joan M. (Cassell) Hills, 89, of Danvers, beloved wife of the late George Benjamin Hills, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 at Beverly Hospital.

Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Alice M. (Choquette) Cassell. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.

Mrs. Hills had been employed at the former Almy's Department Stores.

A long-time resident of the Town of Danvers, Joan loved to take care of her family. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed needle work. She loved to sew and made quilts for New England Medical Center and Maple Street Church through the "Quilts for Comfort" program. Family was paramount in her life and she will be deeply missed.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Sharron Rowland and her husband, John, Georgia Shaffer and her husband, Rik, JoAnne Burnett and her husband, Terry and Shelya Malerba and her husband, Dom all of Danvers, her sons, Gary Hills of Campton, N.H. and Jeffrey Hills and his wife, Ilene of Plymouth, her nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Benjamin, Rebecca, Kristen, Adam, Brittany, Nikki, Alycen and DJ, her 14 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Olga Cassell of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Carey Shaffer and sister of the late Alice Neal, Irene Cavoie and Robert and George Cassell.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family is invited to her funeral service which will be held, graveside, at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Sylvan St., Danvers, Friday, April 9th at 11 A.M.
