ROWLEY - Joan P. (Fawson) Duhaime, aged 89, of Rowley, peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2025, at Salem Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph R. Duhaime, Sr.
Born and raised in Salem, Joan was the daughter of the late Bertram W. and Marion E. (King) Fawson. A proud graduate of Salem High School’s Class of 1953, she also attended Northern Essex Community College. Joan grew up on Bridge Street and later resided near Salem Common, proudly referring to herself as a “Bridge Streeter” and often recalling treasured memories from her neighborhood.
Joan dedicated many years of service to the City of Salem, initially working at the former Salem Health Hospital in the Willows and later serving as a union steward at Shaughnessy Hospital until her retirement.
An avid traveler and adventurer, she explored many destinations, including Alaska, Hawaii, Italy, and Greece. Some of her fondest memories were made at the Greenwood Mountain Inn in Maine, owned by her son Daryel, where she enjoyed time with family and friends. She also loved dining out, solving crossword puzzles, and spending cherished moments with her dear sister, Brenda. Above all, Joan found her greatest joy in being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband Joe, she was predeceased by her son, Daryel Duhaime, and her brother, Bertram Fawson.
Joan is survived by her sons, Dana J. Duhaime of Salem and Joseph R. Duhaime, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Lynnfield; her grandchildren, Eric, Bradley, Ryan, Ashley, Kimberly, and Jessica Duhaime; six great-grandchildren; her siblings Brenda Mangiafico, Preston Fawson, Kevin Fawson; and many nieces and nephews.
