IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan Mary
Scigliano
August 5, 1937 – August 29, 2025
DANVERS – Mrs. Joan Mary (Prezioso) Scigliano of Danvers, Massachusetts passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Beverly Hospital with her family by her side.
Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Grace (McGonagle) Prezioso. She was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School.
Joan began her professional career in the insurance industry. Upon starting her family, she devoted herself to creating a loving and supportive home for her beloved husband and children. After her children were grown, she re-joined the workforce and began a 28-year career in the Town of Lynnfield school system. As the administrative assistant at the Summer Street School, Joan made many friends and considered them all her second family. She was beloved by the teachers, her co-workers in the office and especially the students. She cherished her time at Summer Street School, loving every minute until the time of her retirement in 2008. She continued those friendships long after her retirement, meeting for monthly luncheons, reminiscing fondly of all the time spent impacting the lives of others.
Joan married the love her life, Francis V. "Frank" Scigliano on October 10, 1959, and they spent 65 years at each other's side. They were an amazing couple, still holding hands until the very end. They complimented each other in every way and laid a great foundation of family and love for their children and grandchildren to follow. They were long time residents of Lynnfield, raising their family and making their home. Upon their retirement, Franny from his family business, The Suffolk Diner in Revere and Joan from the Lynnfield Public Schools, they would move to Danvers, where they spent their time doting on their grandchildren.
Joan was a fantastic cook and enjoyed sharing her creations with her family and friends. She was known for her baked goods, that no one could pass up. They were legendary. She enjoyed knitting and was happiest when spending time with those she loved.
Joan's life revolved around family, faith and friends. Her devotion to God was well known and brought her much peace. She was extremely proud of her family, especially her grandchildren. She cherished time spent with them and never missed a life event. Joan's thoughtful nature endeared her to many including her children's friends and her grandchildren's friends. She was a second mother/grandmother to all in her orbit. Her kind nature imprinted on all of those she came into contact with. She will be forever missed and always remembered.
Joan is survived by her children Emmanuel Scigliano and his wife, Dr. Lucie Wu – Scigliano of Mansfield, CT. and Donna Sewall and her husband, Michael of Andover, and her nine grandchildren: Austin Scigliano and wife, Kelsey Johnson, Angelica Scigliano, Amelia Scigliano, Anthony Scigliano and his wife, Giavannah, Anderson Scigliano, Arrington Scigliano, Addison Scigliano, Jack Sewall and Ella Sewall.
