DANVERS - JoAnn F. (Alfano) Maylor, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 4, 1937 in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Alfonse and Rosina (Romano) Alfano.
JoAnn was the beloved wife of William Maylor, with whom she shared 68 devoted years of marriage after marrying on August 24, 1958. Together, they built a life centered on family, community, and enduring love.
JoAnn graduated from East Boston High School in 1955 and began her career as a secretary at the Boston Naval Shipyard in Charlestown, where she worked for four years. She later dedicated over two decades of service to the Danvers school system, working for 20 years as the school secretary at Riverside School before retiring in 1995. Even in retirement, she continued to serve her community, working part-time as a secretary at Danvers Alternative High School for three additional years until its closure.
JoAnn treasured time spent with her family above all. She also enjoyed traveling, golfing, and taking trips to the casino. She especially loved spending winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Florida, creating many cherished memories with loved ones.
JoAnn was a devoted mother to William Maylor, Jr. of Danvers, and Kenneth Maylor and his wife, Penny, of Danvers. She was a cherished "Nanny" to her grandchildren, Cole and Wes Maylor, and Tara Devaney and her husband, James Devaney, and a proud great-grandmother ("Great Nanny") to Noah and Halle Devaney, all of Danvers. She is also survived by her extended family, including her sister Anna Colarusso's husband, Augy of Danvers, and her sister-in-law June of Florida, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Anna Colarusso, Armando Alfano and his wife Jeanette, Domenic Alfano, Alfonso Alfano and his wife Joanna, and Louie Alfano.
