SALEM – Mr. John L. Greener, 67 of Salem, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025 at Hathorne Hill in Danvers with his family by his side.
Born in Salem, John was the son of the late William "Bill" and Henrietta R. (McEachern) Greener. He grew up in Salem, attending Salem Public Schools and was an active athlete, participating in little league and excelled in various youth sports.
In his adult years, John went off to work as a laborer, working many long hours in construction and welding.
In the true hustle and bustle of life, John found solace in the art of fishing. He cherished the moments spent by the water, often a lake, skillfully catching and gently releasing his fish. A true animal lover at heart, John had a special gift for nurturing and rescuing animals in need. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand when it came to a furry friend. His compassionate nature extended to all aspects of his life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
John is survived by his sister, Kathy Bonocore and her husband, Kenneth of Salem; his nephews, William K. Bonocore of Salem and Dana M. Bonocore of Beverly; and beloved niece, Allyson Abbott of Abbington. He is also survived by his step mother, Joan Greener and step-siblings, David Nelson, Michelle Pare and Jeannie Muse. In addition to his beloved parents, Bill Sr., and Henrietta, John was predeceased by his siblings, William Greener, Jr. and Henry Greener and step-siblings, Lynne Anne Pare and Tracie Fitzgerald.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's funeral which will be held graveside at St. Mary's Cemetery, 226 North St., Salem on Wednesday, October 1st at 11 A.M.
