BEVERLY- Mr. John "Jay" James McKenna 48, of Beverly, died August 20th, 2015 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, surrounded by his family following a brief illness. Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Edna F. (Mead) McKenna. He was raised and educated in Merrimac and attended Pentucket Regional High School. Mr. McKenna had been employed in the Marine Services Industry for many years. He was associated with the Beverly Port Marina, Marina Bay in Quincy the Danversport Yacht Club and Casco Marine in Portland, Maine. Jay was an outdoors man through and through. He enjoyed spending his time near or on the water. He was an avid boater and loved to spend time with his brother fishing and scuba diving on the North Shore. His love of the out of doors began at a young age as he and his family summer on Conomo Point in Essex for many years. Those were some of the greatest memories of Jay's life. He was an outgoing person and was always engaging to friends and strangers alike. He will be deeply missed. Jay is survived by his sisters, Hope Sanford and her husband Patrick of Essex and Edna Duran and her husband Efrain of Williston, Fl, his brother Tom McKenna of Haverhill and many nieces and nephews and cousins including his special cousin and friend, Adrian DiNapoli of Gloucester. He is also survived by his former wife Christine McKenna and her son Brendan Gove.
