Mr. John I. "Jack" O'Keefe 78 of Danvers, beloved husband of Judith (Garchinsky) O'Keefe, died April 20th, 2013, surrounded by his family at Salem hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Robert R. and Christine (Cogan) O'Keefe. He was raised and educated in Revere. He was a graduate of Boston University where he earned his Accounting Degree. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.
Mr. O'Keefe had been employed at Blue Cross in the Accounting Department for many years until the time of his retirement. Following his retirement he was employed with Salem Hospital for ten years in their Accounting and Auditing Department. A 30 year resident of the Town of Danvers, Mr. O'Keefe had previously resided in Reading. He was a long time member of the V.F.W. in Reading. Dedicated to his faith, John was a communicant of St. Richard Parish in Danvers. He was a loving husband, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed. In addition to his loving wife of 37 years, John is survived by his sister Christine McCarthy of Wakefield and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Robert R., Joseph M and Edward O'Keefe. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Wednesday at 10:15 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass in St. Richard Church, Forest St., Danvers at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in John's memory to The Parkinson's Disease Foundation 1359 Broadway Ste. 1509 New York, N.Y. 10018.
