Salem - Mr. John Paul "Rocky" Lord, 60, of Salem, Retired Fire Fighter with the Town of Marblehead Fire Department, died unexpectedly, December 24th, 2012 at his home.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Paul and Dorothy (Trainor) Lord. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. Following in his father's footsteps, Fire Fighter Lord, began his career as a firefighter for the Town of Marblehead in September of 1974 and served dedicatedly and diligently until he officially retired in August of 2000, giving over twenty-five years of service to the Town of Marblehead.
He had a true love of the ocean, having been an avid Tuna Fisherman and the captain of many sea vessels. He was a dedicated member of the I.A.F.F. Local #2043. Rocky had a great many friends on and off the fire department that he enjoyed spending his time with and who will deeply miss him. Rocky's passion for life was well evident by his victorious battle with cancer. An avid Boston Sports fan, Rocky, enjoyed rooting for the Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox.
Rocky is survived by his fiancé, Jeanne Franco of Lynn, his sisters, Deborah Sinclair and her husband Gordon of Salem and Mary Lou Lord of Beverly, his brother, Mark Lord and his wife Laurie of Salem, his nieces, Susana and Aimee Sinclair, Annabelle Lord-Patey, and Leeann Curran, his nephew, Matthew Sinclair, his Aunts, Roz Jaworski of Salem and June Trainor of Ct. and many loving cousins, friends and his beloved canine Companion "Cubby".
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Friday, Dec. 28th at 9:15 A.M. followed by his funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd, Salem at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Thursday, Dec. 27th from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Rocky's memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the charity of one's choice.
