SALEM - Joseph Ernest Barbeau Jr. of Salem, MA passed away unexpectedly on March 26th, 2023.

Joe was a man of many skills and titles ranging from head chef, city building official, camp counselor, radiation technician, fine finished carpenter, and far more. He was known throughout all of his communities as an ideal friend, father, husband, and grandfather. Joe was a talented artist both in literature and painting and touched many people throughout his life through his works. He set the standard on what it meant to be a selfless individual, and bestowed as many life lessons and stories as possible to those who were lucky enough to cross paths with him.

He is preceded in death by his loving mother-in-law, Lona J Bélanger, of Salem, MA.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria A. Barbeau of Daytona Beach, FL; his sister, Lisa M. Kelleher of Virginia and her daughter, Emily Kelleher; his four children, Diana J. B. Yee of Yarmouth, ME and partner, William Yee, Jessica J. Snow of Daytona Beach, FL and partner, Cody W. Markham, Joseph E. Barbeau of Harrisonburg VA and partner, Samantha E. Young, and Lisa M. Holmes-Brady of Clarksville, TN and partner, Kyle J. Holmes-Brady; his grandchildren, Joshua D. Snow, Andrew J. Snow, Sapphire J. Barbeau, Ada R. Yee, Harrison R. Yee; and his two loving dogs, Scrappy and Mahaeo. He is also survived by a massive amount of extended family and many "surrogate" children and family members whom he grew to love as his own over the many years of his life.

Joe's life will continue to live on in the many acts of service and love he gave to all of his beloved communities over the years as well as in the hearts of each individual he touched along his journey and in the individuals that received the generous donation of his organs.
