LARGO, FL - Mr. Joseph R. Sheldon, 73 of Largo, FL, beloved husband of Christine (Woodward) Sheldon died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 29, 2016.

Born in Peabody, Joseph was the son of the late Philip and Gladys (Hartman Long) Sheldon. Raised and educated in Danvers, he was a graduate of Danvers High School.

An honorably discharged Veteran, Joseph proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army for over 20 years. Following his career with the Army, Mr. Sheldon had been employed at GTE Sylvania for several years and retired from the Seabrook Nuclear Plant in New Hampshire.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing in their many activities. He enjoyed traveling to Largo Florida with his wife, and in 2008, Joseph and Christine purchased a home to reside in during their retirement. A man, who was special to everyone, will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Along with his wife Christine with whom he shared 35 years of marriage, Joseph is survived by his daughter, Angela M. Mims of Haverhill, his son, Steven Farland of England, his 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service which will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (Rt. 62) Danvers, Thursday, October 6 at 11 A.M. Visitation prior to the service from 10 to 11 A.M. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers.
