IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Josephine Adele
(Gwozdz) Pochask
April 21, 1923 – February 28, 2024
BEVERLY – Mrs. Josephine Adele (Gwozdz) Pochask died February 28th, 2024 at Sunrise at Gardner Park in Peabody. Josephine passed away at the age of 100, just 2 months shy of her 101st birthday and had resided at Sunrise for almost 3 years with the debilitating disease of dementia.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Victoria (Pienta) Gwozdz.
Josephine was pre-deceased by her husband, John Stanley Pochask, who passed away in 2001 and they had been married for 54 years. Josephine is survived by her daughters, Susan "Penny" Foster and her husband, Barry of St. Petersburg, Fl and Linda R. Pochask and her husband, Anthony R. Furnari Jr of Beverly, her grandson, Christopher Foster of Windsor, CT; her great-granddaughter, Zoe Foster of East Hartford, Ct and Zoe's mother, Karen LeSage of East Hartford, Ct. Josephine, being one of 11 Children, is also survived by 2 sisters, Helen Gwozdz and Rose Sullivan, both of Taunton and one brother, Stephen Gwozdz of Attleboro, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Josephine was a gentle soul, quiet and reserved, a "real lady", as her late husband used to say. She was a great cook, (always cooking from scratch) and a fastidious homemaker. She enjoyed working out of doors, pruning the shrubbery, raking the leaves and pine needles and constantly sweeping all the stairs and porches to rid them of the constant pine needles falling daily. She even enjoyed shoveling snow. Josephine loved crossword puzzles, table puzzles and watching her favorite TV Shows, which consisted of "The Golden Girls", the local news, "Andy of Mayberry" and "Dateline" to mention a few. She loved to dance and relished family gatherings with her siblings and other relatives and friends.
