IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joshua James
Koen
September 9, 1996 – August 31, 2022
DANVERS – Mr. Josua James Koen, 25 of Danvers, entered Eternal Life on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by his devoted mother, father and brother.
Born in Beverly, Josh was the son of James K. Koen and Joanne L. (Malette) Koen. Raised and educated in Danvers, Josh attended Danvers Public Schools and was a graduate of Danvers High class of 2015. He continued his education at George Washington University where studied Political Science, graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree.
From a young age, Josh excelled academically. He was extremely articulate and had an excellent command of the English language. In high school he had a passion for world history and politics. He was well versed in current affairs and enjoyed discussing politics with his family and friends. In his high school yearbook when asked where he would be in 2025 he said "working for a Fortune 500 Company and raising money to run for The Senate."
Josh was remarkably driven and explored several career paths. He was passionate about helping others and had an immense heart which reflected in every aspect of his life. While away at college Josh volunteered as a Crisis Interventionist for 2 years. Upon graduation he worked for Capsule in Boston as a Logistics Associate. He successfully passed the LSAT and was actively applying and accepted to several Law Schools.
Josh had such a big heart and was extremely generous and would do anything for family, friends, or a fellow man.
One of Josh's best traits was his sense of humor; he always found a way to make people laugh. He was a gifted athlete who played football and baseball from youth, throughout high school and was a great teammate to the football, baseball and track teams. In his free time, Josh loved skiing and hiking with his family and was a workout warrior where he could be found in a gym seven days a week. Above all else Josh was greatly loved by his family and friends. We will be forever heartbroken without Josh.
The family is forever grateful for the care Josh received and wish to send a special thank you to the Tufts Medical Center Team and the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit who worked tirelessly around the clock for 4 days to care for Josh.
In addition to his parents, Joanne L. Koen of Danvers and Salem Firefighter James K. Koen of Salem; Josh is survived by his brother, Jeremy K. Koen of Danvers; his maternal grandmother, Marjorie R. Malette of Danvers, many aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
