BEVERLY - Joyce E. Bates passed away on Friday, March 22nd, 2024 after her courageous battle with breast cancer. Born on April 2nd, 1960, in Brockton, MA, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Marie (Joyce) Bates, sister of David Bates and wife Reena, and aunt of Matthew and Abby Bates. Joyce was the beloved wife of Donna Goneau.

She was a devoted physical therapist working within the healthcare industry, leaving a lasting impact on those she cared for at Mass. General Home Care. Joyce was a lover of the outdoors, finding solace and joy by the ocean, particularly at Good Harbor Beach, engaging in activities such as hiking and swimming. Her passion for physical fitness extended to being a triathlete, showcasing her athleticism and adventurous spirit.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Joyce was known for her compassionate and caring nature, spreading joy and kindness to all those around her. She shared a beautiful 27-year relationship with her beloved wife, Donna Goneau, culminating in their marriage on January 23rd, 2011. Together, they built a life filled with love. Joyce cherished her passion for photography and was known for her creative spirit, capturing beautiful moments that will forever be treasured. She was also a deeply spiritual person, finding solace and joy in her faith throughout her life.
