LYNN - Mrs. Judith A. (Darcy) Ward 78, of Lynn, Gold Star wife of the late United States Army Veteran SSGT James Ward, died Monday, August 5, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Catherine (Cameron) Darcy. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem high School. She continued her education at North Shore Community College earning her Associates Degree. Mrs. Ward had been employed for many years with the State of Massachusetts Welfare Department at the Lynn, Salem and Revere Offices. She was promoted to Supervisor of the State of Massachusetts Long Term Care Division at the Charlestown office until the time of her retirement. A long-time resident of the City of Salem, Judy has resided in Lynn for the past 20 years. She enjoyed spending her time playing cribbage with the club at Major Magleashe's and was a decorated and outstanding bowler who won many Candle-pin bowling tournaments and competitions. She was a ardent Boston Red Sox fan and never missed a game. She was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed. Judy is survived by her loving sons, Michael Ward and Daniel Ward both of Lynn, her 4 grandchildren, LeeAnn and Amy Ward both of Peabody and James Ward and Heather Ward both of Gloucester, many great grandchildren, her siblings, James Darcy of NH, Kenneth Darcy of Salem, Jerry Darcy of Lynn, Gladys Carter and her husband Don of FL and Janet Richards of Peabody. She was the long-time devoted companion of the late Thomas Schramm, whom she spent many loving years with.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Saturday, Aug. 10th at 10 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Margin St., Peabody/Salem line at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Friday, Aug. 9th from 4 to 7 P.M. Donations in Judy's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Dr., Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
