IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith (Weeks)
Dolan
March 31, 1933 – November 28, 2024
MIDDLETON – Mrs. Judith W. (Weeks) Dolan, 91, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, former longtime resident of Middleton, beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Dolan III and long-time devoted companion of the late Ronald D. McConnell, died peacefully, November 28th, 2024.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Donlan) Weeks. She was raised and educated in Jamacia Plain and Westwood and was a graduate of Westwood High School, Class of 1950. She continued her education at Colby College earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, as a member of the class of 1954.
Following her marriage to Tom, they settled in Middleton in 1958 to raise a family making the historic Ebenezer Styles House their home for many years. Over the years she painstakingly restored the home to its original splendor. She was active in the Middleton community and a member of the Historical Society. Following her husband's untimely death in 1975, Judy began a career and business in the antique world. She was the proprietor of several north shore antique shops over the years, beginning with Courtyard Antiques in Topsfield, then a shop in Essex, on Charles St. in Boston and finally Middleton Antiques. With a deep passion for vintage items, she was able to combine her love of collectables with her business. She was frequently on the hunt around New England looking for interesting items to fill her shop. She was well respected in the industry for her keen eyes, professional acumen and passion for antiques.
Mrs. Dolan was a journalist and regular contributor with the Tri-Town Transcript and Lawrence Eagle Tribune during the 1970s, writing columns on local Middleton news and antiques. Her weekly column was always anticipated by those that shared a love of antiquing.
An extremely intelligent woman and lifelong learner, Judy was an avid reader. She enjoyed the daily newspapers, Time Magazine and The New Yorker. She took great delight in completing the daily crossword puzzle. She loved discussing the world and current affairs and was always open to a spirited debate on the topics of the day. She was a quiet person who enjoyed her animals and spent her free time cooking, in the garden, and watching the birds. She enjoyed going to museums and was especially fond of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Peabody Essex Museum and the Boston Athenaeum.
A long-time resident of Middleton, Judy moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody in 2018. She enjoyed her canine companion Muffin and their daily walks. She overcame a lot of adversity in her life and provided a warm and loving home for her family. She worked hard and sacrificed to give her children the best opportunities available to them. She was a great role model for her children and grandchildren and will be forever missed.
Judith is survived by her daughter, Ellen C. Dolan of Middleton; her son, Sean C. Dolan and his wife, Michele of Chelmsford, their children, Samantha and Sean Dolan Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Dolan of Haverhill, her children, Joseph, John, and James. She was the loving mother of the late Thomas F. Dolan Jr.
