Obituary

DANVERS – Mrs. Judith Ann McCrea, 74, of Danvers passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Kaplan Family Hospice House.

Born in Everett, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Sodofsky) Milley. Judith was the wife of the late Andrew McCrea, with whom she celebrated many years of marriage.

Judy graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1966. After excelling in Everett High's business course, she was offered a federal civil servant job at Chelsea Naval Hospital, soon becoming the secretary of its orthopedic department. It was there that Judy met her husband Andy, who was recovering from injuries sustained from his service in the Vietnam War (USMC). They married in 1970. After more than a decade as a professional mother, Judy re-entered the workforce as a dental assistant then office manager of Dr. Lawton's dental practice in Topsfield MA, retiring in 2010.

Judy was influenced by the cultural times in which she grew up and loved The Beatles, The Platters, and The Rolling Stones. On the screen, it was Jack Nicholson. Judy was the consummate hostess of holidays and family gatherings. Indeed, the matriarch of the family. She developed a knack for interior design and hanging wallpaper. Judy had a love for antiques and unusual objects, and could often be seen at Todd Farm Flea Market on Sundays. In recent years, her summer cottage in Wells, ME became her sanctuary. Above all else, Judy loved to spoil her grandchildren, sneaking them money and watching them grow.

Judy is survived by her sons, Derek (and Meghan) McCrea of Danvers, Bryan McCrea of Danvers, Sean (and Lilly) McCrea of Salem and her daughter, Lauren Murphy of Salem; grandchildren, Christopher, Kelly Rose, Matthew, Ryan and Sean.

ARRANGEMENTS: Judy's service will be held at the Memorial Chapel of Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm St., Everett, MA on Monday, November 7th, 10 A.M., followed by a graveside burial. The celebration of Judy's life will conclude at Spinelli's Function Facility in Lynnfield. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Veterans Association of America are encouraged at vetsaa.org. Assisting the family with the arrangements is O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS.
