SALEM – Ms. Judith Mary Salmon, 81 of Beverly, formerly of Salem, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly, with her daughters by her side.

Born in West Suffolk, England, Judith was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Patterson) Salmon. She was raised and educated in England, moving to the United States at the age of 19, traveling on the Queen Mary to New York City and then to Boston.

Eventually settling in Massachusetts, Judy found her home in the city of Salem where she considered herself a longtime resident, even though she was British through and through. She loved to travel to Europe, Africa and the Canary Islands, but England was always her favorite.

Judy was an extremely determined woman; she was accepted into Radcliff College on full scholarship and was passionate in expressing her creative mind through painting and art. She also enjoyed reading, dancing and playing sports. As a schoolgirl she played field hockey, and as an adult, she played tennis, racquetball, and golf. She was incredibly talented, intelligent, quick witted and unapologetically herself, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Judy is survived by her daughters, Vicky Elizabeth Funderburk of Salem; Rebecca Vitale and her partner, Andrew Gollub of Hull; her sister, Joan Slater of Boston and a surviving niece Wendy and two nephews, Mark and Scott. In addition to her parents Robert and Elizabeth, Judy was predeceased by her sister, Winifred Walker and two nephews, Shaun and Timothy.
