PEABODY-Julia F. (Hammond) Preczewski 83, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Preczewski, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Brooksby Village Continuing Care.
Born in Tampa, Florida, she was the daughter of the late James and Myra (Russ) Hammond. She was raised and educated in Albany Georgia and was a graduate of Albany High School.
Outgoing, caring, with an innate drive to help others, Julia’s career was always impacted by her one-on-one interactions with her customers. At Salem Savings Bank she assisted customers with their banking needs always with a smile and how are you today, not just to ask but because she really cared about her customers. In addition to her work in banking, Julia shared her talents as an Aesthetician and make-up artist, where her gentle touch and keen eye for beauty, transformed not just faces but positively impacted many lives. She took great joy in helping others feel their best whether at Filene’s Department Store, at salons around the Northshore or in the homes of several of her clients.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend Julia’s family was paramount. She considered her role as mother and grandmother her greatest accomplishment. She was truly happiest when surrounded by her family enjoying their many milestones and accomplishments. Her artistic flair was also evident in her many hobbies; ceramic classes, knitting and crocheting all which she would share with family and friends. Julia loved to have a good time and enjoyed many parties and dances at the Knights of Columbus. Her legacy of caring for others and her contagious zest for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Surviving Julia is her son Robert Preczewski and his wife Maureen of Marblehead, her granddaughter, Elizabeth Ghandchi and her husband Shahriar of North Andover, her grandson Michael Preczewski of Lynn and her great-grandchildren, Seraphina and Livia of North Andover, her sister Cheryl Formanek of Melbourne, FL, and her sister-in-law, Jan Hammond of, MS., and several nieces and nephews.
