IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julie Ann
(Michaud) Prosniewski
May 23, 1964 – October 28, 2022
SALEM - Julie Ann (Michaud) Prosniewski passed away suddenly on Friday, October 28th, 2022. Julie was the beloved wife of Councilor-at-Large and retired Salem Police Captain, Conrad J. Prosniewski, with whom she shared just shy of 29 years of marriage.
Julie was born May 23, 1964 in Salem Hospital to the late Margaret G. (Saraceno) and Roger A. Michaud, Sr. A late-in-life baby, her father never ceased to consider her a "miracle child." She attended St. James and Bowditch grammar schools and was a 1982 Graduate of Salem High School.
Some of you may remember her from Video Paradise or In a Pig's Eye where her gift for engaging people and her generous spirit thrived. Her entrepreneurial skills were at their best when she became the proprietor of Lydia's Sub Shop on Essex Street and The Bella Luna Café on Pickering Wharf; which arguably housed the cleanest, most beautiful bathrooms in Salem.
Julie possessed youth-like vigor for all things creative and could transform what some may consider "messy" into a thing of beauty. Her mind never stopped figuring out ways to rearrange furniture, paint a wall, pack a suitcase or shop 'til she dropped. Julie never met a vacation destination she didn't love and never met a person there who wasn't added to her Christmas Card List.
Every child gravitated to her because she knew exactly what would make them laugh and, in doing so, they adored being with her – even if did mean they argued over who loved Mickey Mouse more. She was the quintessential animal lover and was a fur-mom to many who were lucky enough to enter her home. Her current baby, Romeo, will miss her.
Julie was always willing to plan for and elevate an occasion to the epitome of special, even if it meant packing her entire home – linens, plates, cutlery, flowers, games & every pan she owned as well as Tupperware for your take-home pleasure - into her car to make it happen. We have yet to find the Army she perceived she was cooking for; but we can surely say she absolutely loved doing it. Cooking was something she came to a little later in life. It became her passion and was a sumptuous gift to all of us. You were fortunate to be at her table and you left her house knowing you were loved, stuffed and appreciated.
Did she love the Dollar Store? Yes. Did she buy her own stuff back from Lifebridge? Yes. It was all part of her charm. The scatterbrained, generous, kind, loving genius she was. Those who knew her best knew she was the best of the best- and life will never, ever be the same without her.
Julie is survived by her devoted husband, Conrad Prosniewski of Salem; her stepchildren, Michael Prosniewski and his wife, Miranda, of Swampscott and Kristina Prosniewski-Kennedy and her husband, John Michael of Danvers; her grandson, Thomas Prosniewski; her siblings, Roger A. Michaud, Jr. and his wife, Diane Stacy of Salem and Joanne Medeiros and the late Michael Medeiros of Middleton; her sister-in-law, Dr. Barbara Prosniewski, of Guerenville, CA; her nephew and nieces, Kenneth Michaud and his wife, Connie of St. Augustine, FL, Alexis Medeiros and her fiancé, Brian Anderson of Lynn and Olivia Moulton and her husband, "Dig" of Danvers; her great nieces and nephews, Ellie Michaud and Michael, Marcella and Mason Moulton and countless friends including her dear friend, Mitchell Sorbera.
