PEABODY- Mrs. June Marie (Baldwin) Dorn, age 81 years, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, Massachusetts, beloved wife of the late Earl Eugene Dorn, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 9th, 2016 at her home. Born in Whiteford, Maryland, June was the daughter of the late John Walter and Effie Marie (Knopp) Baldwin. She was raised and educated in Whiteford, Maryland and was a graduate of North Harford High School, Class of 1952 where she graduated second in her class, participated on the leadership council and was a varsity basketball player. She continued her education at Towson State Teachers College, where she played on the varsity basketball team and graduated in 1956. Mrs. Dorn devoted her life to education. She began her professional career as an educator in the Maryland Public School System and upon moving to Wilmington, Delaware with her family she commenced a 28 year career as an English & Literature Professor at St. Mark's High School in Wilmington, Delaware. She devoted herself to her Freshman and Senior students and the school community. She was a beloved teacher and remembered for her dedication and caring of her students as well as her mastering of her discipline. For twenty-one years June was also the moderator of "Markings", an award winning literary magazine based at her school. Under her leadership the publication was awarded four first place awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. June also taught summer school and SAT evening courses for five years. A longtime resident of Wilmington, Delaware and Belair, Maryland. June was active in the Christ United Methodist Church of Wilmington Delaware where she helped create the church library with her husband Earl. June had been a resident of Brooksby Village in Peabody since the year 2005. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed spending her time at the bible study class at Brooksby Village and was a lifelong learner and avid reader. A world traveler, June ventured to many destinations all over the globe. She loved to travel with her family and during her teaching years chaperoned many students on educational trips to many of the world's most historical sites. June enjoyed boating and loved spending her summers at Lake Charlevoix in Boyne City, Michigan. Above all else family always came first in her life. She will be deeply missed. June is survived by her sons, Mark Eugene Dorn and his wife Elizabeth Anne Dorn of Topsfield, Allen Earl Dorn and his wife Patty Dorn of Asheville, N.C. and Steven Howard Dorn and his wife Kimberly Dorn of Lutz, Fl, her grandchildren, Ryan Dorn, Nicholas Dorn, Valerie Dorn, Dana Warren III, Eric Dorn and Katherine Warren, her brother Stanley Baldwin and his wife Linda of Darlington, Maryland and several nieces and nephews. June was also the sister of the late Richard "Dick" and Robert "Bob" Baldwin of Maryland.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Brooksby Village, Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody, Monday, Nov. 21st at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial is private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Bourne. Visiting hours are planned at the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (rte 62) Danvers, Sunday, Nov. 20 from 2 to 4 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in June's memory to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
